Lack of Consultation: West Windsor didn’t invite East Windsor to discuss this project, despite the significant impact it will have on their community. West Windsor consistently ignores the
‘good neighbor policy’ delineated in the Warehouse Siting Guidance.
Flawed Testing:
Experts found that required environmental tests were not fully performed,
leading to predictable flooding risks on County Route 571. Yet, the NJDEP approved it anyway.
Even after new evidence was presented to the County Planning Board, they ignored it and
allowed a dangerously inadequate stormwater management plan to move forward. Why isn’t our
County looking towards protecting us into the future?
New Laws Ignored:
Last July, a new County Land Use ordinance was adopted that empowers the County Engineer to enforce updated data. However, this engineer, an administration holdover, stated he “would never” apply the the new stormwater standards to projects that were grandfathered under the NJDEP regs... even before he heard expert testimony! These laws are designed to protect residents from flooding. His choice to disregard new scientific evidence and these regulations endangers our community and favors big developers over public safety.
Upcoming Hearing: The County Commissioners will discuss this project on November 12 at 6:00 PM at:
640 South Broad Street Trenton, NJ 08650 Room 211
This is our chance to insist they prioritize our health and safety by enforcing current stormwater data to prevent flooding that could disrupt and endanger our lives and commutes, promising future costs to taxpayers for infrastructure damages beyond measure.
Take Action Now!
1. Write an email to the County Commissioners and urge them to enforce updated stormwater
rules before it’s too late. Your voice can make a difference! Button to contact info below.
2. Contact County Executive Dan Benson and hold the County Engineer accountable for failing to protect residents from foreseeable flood risks. Contact info HERE: https://www.mercercounty.org/government/county-executive/office-of-the-county-executive
3. Reach out to West Windsor’s mayor and planning board. Let them know that East Windsor
will not be collateral damage for their greed. Demand responsible growth that respects
neighboring communities and prevents flooding. mayor@westwindsortwp.com
panning board phone numbers:
Our future safety against the hazards of flooding depends on the implementation of the highest
standards of stormwater management. Townships and the Counties can ensure this when approving all
developments. Let’s work together for a green Garden State.
